Enhancing Merlin Conservation Area Prairie
Matt Haley's Grad 3 class from Merlin Area Public School participated in a prairie plug planting event June 5th at the Merlin Conservation Area. The students were taught about the importance of prairie habitat for many species including the Bobolink, a species at risk. The group of 20 students planted 98 prairie plugs over the duration of the one hour event. They were very enthusiastic about helping enhance the conservation area and did a great job in the effort to create a prairie habitat at this location.
