Victor Lauriston Public School increases tree cover in their school yard
Two grade 3 classes from Victor Lauriston Public School planted 4 trees in their school yard June 7th to increase shade cover for students. The endeavor was led by Tyson Parry who identified a need for more tree cover in the school yard. The 45 volunteers each took a turn to help dig the 4 holes, providing the trees with both water and care. The grade 3 students were very knowledgeable and were able to identify the needs of a tree for survival and their contribution to the environment.

The cold-frame boxes are covered in leaf litter to help insulate the seeds from the cold throughout the winter and mimic a natural environment
