Winter & Spring Introduction and Seeding events were a big hit this year!

2013 has started out with a large number of groups interested in participating in introduction and seeding events offered through the Community Trees Initiative Program. There were 3 groups who participated in introductory events, 26 groups who participated in seeding events, and 1 group who participated in both seed collection and repotting events. We have had a total of 483 volunteers to date particpate in the winter 2013 program.

Groups who participated include West Elgin Secondary School, Merlin Area Public School, Wallaceburg District Secondary School, Nahii Ridge Public School, Chatham-Kent Secondary School, Chatham Community Living, Tecumseh Public School, Riverview Central School, John McGregor Secondary School, Ursuline College, École Secondaire de Pain Court, Chatham-Kent Secondary School Environmental Club, Ridgetown District High School, Chatham #4 Scout troop, Tecumseh Public School, and McNaughton Ave Public School.

The groups did a great job helping to fill out the municipal greenhouse with seedlings and were excited to help promote environmental stewardship. The events took place between the months of February and April.
